About the role

Are you an experienced legal professional looking for a role where your work truly matters Join our Professional Standards team as an inhouse Senior Solicitor and help uphold the integrity of and confidence in the legal profession in Aotearoa New Zealand.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a solicitor whos eager to expand their skill set by working across a broad and meaningful range of regulatory and ethical matters in a supportive team environment.

Youll support the team through:

  • Providing legal advice and guidance to other Law Society teams (such as the Lawyers Complaints Service Registry and the Inspectorate specialist regulatory committees and the Law Society Board Managing complex legal matters including litigation
  • Helping draft guidelines policies and practice briefings
  • Supporting investigations into potential breaches of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006

About you

Were looking for someone who is enthusiastic curious and a team player. You will have a current practising certificate and bring:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years legal experience including substantial experience in administrative and/or regulatory law.
  • The confidence and ability to advise senior decision-makers clearly and persuasively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement and a willingness to learn including a demonstrable commitment to development in tikanga te reo and te ao Māori
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • A collaborative mindset and confidence working independently where needed
  • Attention to detail and good computer literacy
