The EYFS team works collaboratively to design and deliver engaging play-based activities that meet statutory learning frameworks and promote a love of learning from the very start of school life. We are looking for a caring and energetic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our team and contribute to nurturing the youngest learners helping them build confidence independence and a solid foundation for future academic success.
The EYFS Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide high-quality support to children in the Early Years fostering their learning development and wellbeing. You will assist in planning and delivering play-based and structured activities supporting children both individually and in small groups.
You will be responsible for creating a safe inclusive and stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity and exploration. The role includes supporting children with social and emotional development promoting positive behaviour and helping them gain independence in daily routines such as eating dressing and self-care.
The position involves observation assessment and reporting helping teachers track childrens progress and identify emerging learning needs. Strong communication skills are essential as you will liaise with teachers parents and support staff to ensure continuity of care and education.
Support childrens learning in EYFS classrooms through play-based activities structured learning and practical tasks.
Assist in the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum adapting activities to meet individual developmental needs.
Work one-to-one or in small groups with children requiring additional support including those with emerging SEN needs.
Observe and record childrens progress sharing insights with the class teacher to inform planning and assessment.
Support the development of early literacy numeracy communication and social skills.
Promote positive behaviour providing guidance and encouragement in line with school policies.
Supervise children during playtime snack and lunchtime ensuring safety and fostering cooperative play.
Support children in self-care routines including toileting handwashing and dressing when needed.
Prepare and maintain resources learning areas and classroom materials.
Work collaboratively with teachers other teaching assistants and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each childs development.
Support transitions for children starting school or moving between settings.
Participate in parent consultations team meetings and professional development sessions.
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children aged 35 ideally within EYFS or nursery settings.
Be confident in supporting early learning across all areas including personal social emotional literacy numeracy and physical development.
Demonstrate patience creativity and a nurturing attitude towards young children.
Have excellent communication skills both with children and adults including parents and colleagues.
Be adaptable able to respond to the varying needs and interests of young learners.
Have knowledge of EYFS statutory framework safeguarding and child development principles.
Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team of early years professionals.
Have a proactive approach to supporting childrens learning and wellbeing.
Possess a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare Early Years or Teaching Assistant work or equivalent experience.
Be committed to inclusive practice promoting equality and supporting children with additional needs where required.
