Función principal y alcance:
- We are seeking an experienced RF / Microwave PCB Designer to lead and execute the layout and design of high-frequency PCBs operating at 40 GHz. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in high frequency layout techniques controlled-impedance structures RF stack-up definition and close collaboration with RF mechanical thermal and manufacturing teams.
- This role is hands-on and requires practical experience translating RF schematics into production-ready low-loss PCB designs.
Funciones principales:
- - Design simulation and layout RF microwave and mmWave PCBs (with focus between 20 to 40 GHz)
- - Define and optimize PCB stack-ups for low-loss high-frequency operation
- Implement controlled impedance transmission lines (microstrip stripline CPW GCPW)
- - Perform RF layout best practices:
o Via fencing and grounding strategies
o Launch transitions (connector-to-PCB die-to-PCB)
o Isolation and coupling control
o Minimization of parasitics and discontinuities
- - Collaborate with RF engineers to ensure layout matches circuit intent
- - Work with mechanical thermal and manufacturing teams on:
o Tolerances
o Material selection (Rogers Taconic Isola etc.)
o DFM/DFA considerations
o Thermal constrains
- - Support EM simulation feedback and layout iterations
- - Participate in design reviews including RF and manufacturing readiness reviews
- - Generate fabrication and assembly documentation (Gerbers stack-up drawings impedance tables)
- - Support board bring-up debug and performance validation.
- - Experience in space applications a plus.
Formación y Competencias requeridas
- - Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- - 5 years of experience in RF / microwave PCB design
- - Proven experience designing PCBs operating at high frequency
- - Strong knowledge of:
o RF materials and laminates
o High-frequency PCB fabrication constraints
o Impedance control and loss mechanisms
- - Hands-on experience with RF connectors and launches (SMP SMPM GPPO coax launches wirebond flip-chip)
- - Proficiency with PCB design tools such as:
o Altium Designer (preferred)
o Cadence Allegro / OrCAD
o Mentor Xpedition
- - Proficiency with RF design and simulation tools
o ADS
o HFSS
o CST
o AWR Microwave Officce
- - Ability to read and interpret RF schematics and simulation results
- - Ability to read and understand parts datasheets
- - Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- - Desirable/Plus
o PLLs for Variable Local Oscillators
o Knowledge of architectural topologies for frequency synthesis and phase noise
o PLL and VCO integration
