Job Summary:
A Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is needed to work within a pediatric setting including the NICU PICU Peds ER and Peds floor. The RRT will manage respiratory care for pediatric and neonatal patients including ventilator management airway management and medication administration. The role requires experience in critical care settings and the ability to work with specialized equipment.

Responsibilities:
- Perform airway management including endotracheal suctioning intubation assistance and tracheostomy care.
- Administer respiratory medications such as Albuterol Atrovent and Pulmicort.
- Manage various oxygen therapy devices including high-flow nasal cannulas and ventilators (BiPAP CPAP etc.).
- Troubleshoot ventilator alarms and wean patients from mechanical ventilation.
- Conduct chest physiotherapy and interpret ABG results.
- Work in the NICU PICU Peds ER and Peds floor adapting to the specific needs of each unit.
- Document patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Assist in high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports.
- Maintain and clean respiratory equipment.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Experience in Emergency Dept NICU Pediatric Critical Care and Pediatrics.
- Competent in airway management and suctioning techniques.
- Proficient in managing patients with aspiration COVID cystic fibrosis fresh tracheostomy and pneumonia.
- Skilled in administering respiratory medications and using various medication delivery systems.
- Experienced in oxygen therapy and ventilator management.
- Knowledgeable in neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures.
- Current BLS NRP PALS RRT certifications.
- Active NC State License.
- Experience with EPIC.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience with direct intubation nasal airway placement and oral airway placement.
- Experience in patient transport (inter-departmental and ambulance transport).
- Knowledge of basic EKG and drawing arterial blood gases.
- Experience with patients having Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia Near drowning Respiratory distress syndrome Respiratory syncytial virus and Transient Tachypnea of the newborn.
Special Considerations:
- Call may be required based on workload.
- Floating throughout the PEDS units and floors is required.
- RTO after booking is not allowed.
- Any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly turn into a Cancel and DNR.
Scheduling:
- 3x12s or 4x12s accepted.
- 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15).
- Every third weekend is required.
- Scheduling is per unit needs.
- No block scheduling.
