Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs clerical communication and other related duties to facilitate the efficient functioning of department services. The Medical Assistant assists patients in their routine activities of daily living collects patient data and specimens and assists the patient care team by performing designated patient care procedures.

Responsibilities:
- Assists patients in their routine activities of daily living including range of motion ambulation positioning skin care linen distribution feeding and hygiene care.
- Collects urine stool and sputum specimens and processes them as needed.
- Obtains and records health data weights vital signs pulse oximetry pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Performs incentive spirometry transports patients prepares for diagnostic tests and assists rehab therapists.
- Sets up oxygen therapy prepares rooms provides post-mortem care and assists in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department specific responsibility).
- Answers unit phones directs calls and performs data entry into electronic medical database systems.
- Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs and notifies the appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs other related clerical and technical duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- MA-C Certification
- BLS Provider CPR certification
- Experience with healthcare terminology
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- N/A
Special Considerations:
- The role is to cover a leave of absence with a possibility of transferring departments after the contract is complete.
- Traveler is expected to have their own reliable transportation.
- Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs as needed within skillset.
Scheduling:
- 5 x 8 Days
- No weekend requirement
- No on-call requirement
