Diesel Mechanic Location: Carlsbad NM

About the Job Our Client is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in Carlsbad NM. This role is responsible for repairing and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and ensuring reliable safe operation. The mechanic will work closely with equipment operators to ensure reported issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
Job Duties -
Repair and maintain heavy equipment including but not limited to: dump trucks dozers front-end loaders lowboy trailers haul trucks and light vehicles

Monitor and ensure reliability of equipment such as belt conveyors pumps screw conveyors product elevators and product screens

Operate plant equipment including skid steers bulldozers and front-end loaders
-
Perform pre-shift inspections preventive maintenance and equipment clean-up
-
Adjust process equipment and determine when to start or stop equipment for operational adjustments
-
Maintain housekeeping standards in the work environment
-
Identify report and address safety hazards
-
Complete regular inspections and maintain accurate equipment records and files
-
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications -
High school diploma or GED

Valid drivers license
-
2 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance (CAT SIS Cummins experience preferred)

DOT inspection experience required
-
Ability to provide own metric tools
-
Availability to work a rotating on-call schedule supporting a 24/7 operation

Schedule & Work Environment -
9/80 schedule: Monday Thursday (9-hour days) Friday (8-hour day) with every other Friday off

Rotating on-call schedule as part of a 24/7 maintenance support team

Outdoor work in non-temperature-controlled environments subject to weather conditions
-
Exposure to loud noise levels; PPE required at all times
Physical Requirements -
Standing walking sitting visual inspections precise hand and finger movements

Twisting stooping crouching kneeling reaching and grasping
-
Ability to lift push and pull up to 50 lbs

Ability to climb stairs and ladders work at heights and perceive color differences
-
Ability to perform strenuous physical activity while wearing PPE
A pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test are required. Employment is contingent upon cleared results.
