Overall Position Summary and Objectives

The purpose of the position is to support the professional and career development of the research and clinical faculty in the NIH Intramural Research Program thereby playing an essential role in advancing the NIH mission.

Statement of Work Details

Provides executive experience needed to conduct needs assessments and develop recommendations for improvements of current operations.

  • Develop recommendations for enhancing the operations of the Faculty Development Program
  • Identify develop and assess faculty professional development materials and resources
  • Collect organize and analyze program evaluation data
  • Coordinate and advise on the overall strategic direction and planning for the program

Collaborates with other professionals to develop recommendations for current and future initiatives.

  • Collaborate with NIH leadership and faculty in developing new initiatives and program offerings
  • Identify invite and coordinate instructors for workshops and classes.

Advises management and staff on formulation of new strategies and sensitive or complicated issues.

  • Address individual faculty needs and issues as they arise 3
  • Work with staff to build and guide the execution of individual project plans for prioritized initiatives; manage and track the status.
  • Review plans for future programs based on draft and final forms.

Works with staff to develop and implement new and proactive programs geared to specific audiences.

  • Organize professional development activities tailored to specific NIH faculty constituencies 2
  • Match mentors and professional development content with individual faculty needs 5
  • Coordinate the application and review process for the Statman Investigator Program 1
  • Support coordination of the Lasker Clinical Scholars Program 4

Conducts research and analysis to proactively address and respond to inquiries on various policies and issues.

  • Develop and implement plans to track and optimize steps in the faculty hiring process
  • Develop and evaluate outreach activities to promote faculty recruitment
  • Coordinate faculty development website
  • Develop and track metrics of success for faculty professional and career progression
