Title: Business Data Analyst Data Mapping & Migration Support
Location: Chicago IL (Loop) Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Type: 6-Month Contract (extension possible)
Compensation: Competitive market rate (C2C preferred) 60 to 70/hr C2C

Overview
We are seeking a Business Data Analyst with strong data analysis and documentation skills to support a data migration initiative. This role is centered on creating accurate Source-to-Target Mapping (STM) documentation that captures business meaning definitions transformations and validation rules for data moving from legacy systems into a new platform.
This is not a hands-on engineering / ETL developer role - the focus is on understanding data content structure and business use and translating that into clear mapping documentation and validation support.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze source system data and business definitions to understand meaning and usage
- Create and maintain Source-to-Target Mapping documentation including:
- field definitions
- data types and formats
- transformation rules
- defaults / null handling
- business rules and constraints
- Use SQL to profile and validate data (counts null rates duplicates outliers)
- Partner with business stakeholders to confirm definitions and mapping logic
- Support data validation and reconciliation during migration testing
- Identify data quality issues and work with teams to define resolution approaches
Required Skills & Experience
- 3 5 years experience as a Business Analyst / Data Analyst in data-heavy projects
- Strong understanding of data meaning structure and business usage (not just schemas)
- Strong documentation skills: requirements mapping rule definitions traceability
- Working SQL skills (joins filters aggregations basic profiling queries)
- Experience supporting data migration or system replacement projects is a strong plus
- Strong communication skills: able to translate between business technical teams
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with Informatica (profiling MDM concepts data quality tools)
- Familiarity with reconciliation/testing methods for migrations
- Experience working with regulated data finance/healthcare or complex master data
