Responsibilities

The Software Application Assistant will assist with data entry and analyzing data from the business operation systems running within University Dining. The position will first be tasked with learning and running reports utilizing Simphony the cash register software system. Possible future training on CBORD the overarching software database system that connects food service commerce activities and the business operations of University Dining together may be an addition the Assistant will learn how to do basic IT repairs on registers and equipment.

Specific Duties

  • Learn basic operation of Simphony the register system.

  • Data entry menu items based off dining locations.

  • Enter new retail/change prices/organize products in Simphony.

  • Assist in creating new buttons for registers.

  • Assist in creating touchscreens for registers.

  • Assist in running reports of sales menu items and customer counts.

  • Keep an accurate count of sales menu items and customer counts in excel.

  • Learn basic IT skills to be able to correct issues with registers.

  • Participate in applicable on-going Simphony trainings.

  • Attending mandatory staff meetings.

  • Complete University Dining Orientation and all mandatory trainings.

  • Being held accountable and abide to the policies outlined in the University Dining Student Employment Handbook.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • This position is ideal for a student with an interest and skills in data entry along with basic IT knowledge and programming skills. Previous experience with a register system is a plus.

  • Must have a strong understanding of excel.

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 10-12 hours per week. Once trained alternative week day (early morning or evening hours) and weekend shifts could be permissible.

  • Strong oral communications skills strong written communication able to work independently desire to learn and active listening skills.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • All applicants must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher).

  • Applicants must pass a criminal background check (only criminal activity directly pertaining to the position description will be evaluated.)

  • Successful applicants must pass all UWSP mandatory trainings along with unit specific trainings as part of their employment onboarding.

Base Wage

$13.50/hour
