Job Summary

The Opportunity

The Department of City and Regional Planning (CRP) is seeking a Finance and Program Coordinator to serve as a key member of our collaborative high-performing administrative team.

This is a highly visible public-facing role supporting students faculty staff alumni and guest speakers. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced academic environment enjoys learning new systems and takes pride in providing excellent service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Coordination: Provide day-to-day support for accounting purchasing and financial transactions. Assist with monitoring expenditures and ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Course & Curriculum Support: Serve as the department liaison to school- and university-level registrar offices. Support undergraduate and graduate curricula including course approvals scheduling enrollment and grade submission.
  • Program & Department Support: Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies including students faculty staff alumni visitors and vendors. Prepare correspondence reports and presentations. Provide back-up support for other departmental staff as needed.
  • Department Chair Support: Manage the Department Chairs calendar and email. Coordinate travel arrangements and reimbursements. Provide periodic administrative support to the Department Manager.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca NY and fully on-site. Typical work hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm.

What We Need

We are seeking a detail-oriented team member who enjoys learning new software and systems and thrives in a people-focused environment. Additionally you will have:

  • An Associate degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination
  • Great communication skills (exhibiting professionalism in spoken and written encounters) with the desire to provide excellent service to all people
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students faculty staff and community members.
  • Top-notch problem-solving skills and a desire to use these skills to help others
  • The ability to be flexible and adjust priorities as needed
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Organization skills and ability to be proactive
  • Expertise with typical business software including Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Acrobat and Sign as well as database management and financial management tools and/or the ability to gain fluency quickly
  • The ability to learn new programs/tools quickly and to adapt to changing policies and procedures
