DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES | The student will work under the Gallery Director on various tasks which will include: Perform research on artworks in the gallerys collection object-based historical research Write short texts that include descriptions of art objects information about their historical context and artist biographies Update catalogue records write clear and concise object descriptions Catalog new artifacts Handle art objects according to current standards and apply best practices for storing and describing art objects |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | Interest in gallery and museum practices Facility with Microsoft office suite and at least one software package used in archives special collections or museum collections. At least one class or more in Art History or the museum professions. **FEDERAL WORK STUDY (FWS) ELIGIBILITY IS REQUIRED** |
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS | Specific knowledge of art or museum collections software package Specific coursework or training in art description or handling. |
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS | Physical Demands: Occasionally lift up to 50lb as well as use a ladder |
