Dy. Manager / Manager – Production & Plant Operations (Second Line to Plant Head)

Role Summary

The Manager – Production & Plant Operations will be responsible for supporting the Plant Head in managing end-to-end plant operations. The role includes execution of production plans SOP and process implementation plant hygiene and safety compliance manpower management cost control and continuous improvement. This role will act as the second-in-command at the plant and will lead plant operations in the absence of the Plant Head.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

• Plan and execute daily production activities as per approved production plans
• Ensure achievement of production targets in terms of quantity quality and timelines
• Review daily Plan vs Actual production and take corrective actions
• Coordinate with QA QC Stores Maintenance and Dispatch teams
• Resolve day-to-day production and operational issues on the shopfloor
• Escalate critical issues to the Plant Head with possible solutions

SOP & Process Implementation

• Ensure implementation and strict adherence to approved SOPs work instructions and process flows
• Monitor process compliance across shifts and departments
• Support preparation revision and improvement of SOPs as per operational requirements
• Ensure process discipline and standardization on the shopfloor
• Drive best practices and continuous improvement initiatives

Quality Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure production activities comply with defined quality and food safety standards
• Support implementation and monitoring of HACCP GMP FSMS and related systems
• Ensure compliance with FSSAI statutory customer and internal requirements
• Support internal customer and certification audits
• Ensure timely closure of audit observations and corrective actions

Plant Hygiene & Sanitation

• Ensure high standards of plant hygiene sanitation and housekeeping
• Monitor daily cleaning and sanitation schedules
• Ensure hygiene practices are followed by all shopfloor employees
• Coordinate with QA/QC for hygiene audits and corrective actions
• Ensure GMP compliance across production areas

Safety & EHS Measures

• Ensure implementation of safety rules PPE usage and safe work practices
• Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions and take preventive actions
• Ensure compliance with statutory safety and EHS norms
• Support accident investigation and implementation of preventive measures

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

• Manage production manpower including supervisors operators and helpers
• Allocate shifts and duties based on production requirements
• Guide motivate and monitor team performance on a regular basis
• Support induction and on-the-job training of new employees
• Maintain discipline and adherence to company policies

HR & Administrative Support

• Support manpower planning and share requirements with HR
• Participate in interviews and finalization of production manpower
• Conduct regular performance reviews of production staff
• Support PMS training and development initiatives

Cost Control & Productivity Improvement

• Monitor raw material usage wastage and production losses
• Take actions to improve yield and reduce rework and rejection
• Support initiatives to increase production capacity and efficiency
• Monitor production-related expenses and suggest cost-saving measures

Reporting & Review

• Prepare and review daily weekly and monthly production reports
• Conduct regular review meetings with supervisors and shift in-charges
• Share production and plant performance updates with the Plant Head

Acting Plant Head Responsibilities

• Take charge of plant operations in the absence of the Plant Head
• Ensure smooth functioning of production quality hygiene safety and manpower
• Act as the key decision-maker for operational matters when delegated
