The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for generating innovative and practical solutions to improve quality safety and productivity of the manufacturing process. The primary objective of this role is to support the companys on time delivery through continuous improvements to parts and processes in production.
This individual will manage projects including process improvements alternative manufacturing methods process automation and production tooling design with a focus on hand assembly finishing and CNC processes. S/he will support projects for new equipment installation new process development and quality initiatives. Extensive coordination with all other functions of Royal (e.g. Quality Program Managers Project Engineers etc.) will be required in this role.
Ideal candidates will have 3 years experience working with manufacturing processes relating to hand assembly finishing and CNC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support of existing parts and programs in production
- Review and participate in Material Review Board processes for nonconforming materials.
- Work with machine shops to repair/replace production tooling
- Design and improve manufacturing processes
- Understand the production and supply chain strategies in use by Royal and their impact on production flow and plant layout.
- Understand the importance of constraints to flow and apply continuous improvement methodologies to optimize constraint utilization.
- Continuously seek to improve the touch time to total time ratio (5T Ratio).
- Manage continuous improvement projects coordinating with multiple functional departments.
- Analyze workflow processes layout and equipment to ensure safe effective production of quality parts.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies (ex. Automation tooling software) including testing and trials.
- Collect data conduct analysis and make continuous improvement recommendations based on information and trends.
- Ensure that tasks are being completed according to specifications.
- Ability to maintain regular punctual and reliable attendance as set by the supervisor according to handbook guidelines consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards.
- Abide by all safety quality personnel and other policies as applicable.
Marginal Duties
- Company travel via airplane and/or vehicle as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned for the good of the department and company.
- Specification testing per customer and certification requirements.
- Support continuous improvements in process quality in order to reduce scrap.
- Assist in the development of bids and capital expenditure budgets.
- Support implementation of new programs and methodologies.
Eligibility
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements. An individual must therefore be a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15. US Person includes US Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.
Compensation
Compensation for this role will be determined based on relevant experience education and skills. Base compensation for this role begins at $80k.
