The Opportunity

Were building a smarter faster and more connected payroll function and were looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead that evolution across our national workforce.

Supporting employees across multiple states industries and complex award structures this role goes beyond processing payroll. Youll play a critical role in how payroll supports commercial outcomes strengthens compliance and delivers confidence to the business through accurate pay pricing and invoicing alignment.

As part of a multinational labour-hire and recruitment group youll join a collaborative leadership team working closely with Finance HR and Operations with genuine influence over systems processes and future growth.

About the Role

As a hands-on payroll leader you will lead the payroll function end-to-end overseeing weekly and fortnightly payroll cycles for both internal employees and a large temporary workforce.

Youll bring a strong focus on rate integrity award interpretation invoicing accuracy control frameworks and continuous improvement while leading and developing a high-performing payroll team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead accurate compliant and timely processing of national payroll cycles.
  • Ensure correct interpretation and application of modern awards EBAs and site-specific conditions.
  • Maintain and enhance rate calculators and payroll/pricing tools to ensure ongoing accuracy and compliance.
  • Validate new client rate setups ensuring payroll rates charge rates and margins align prior to billing.
  • Reconcile payroll to invoicing ensuring hours rates and classifications flow correctly end to end.
  • Manage statutory obligations including STP superannuation payroll tax and child support.
  • Drive automation system improvements and process efficiencies across payroll operations.
  • Partner with Finance HR and Operations to resolve issues and support informed decision-making.
  • Lead mentor and develop the payroll team balancing leadership with a hands-on operational approach.
  • Support the integration of acquisitions into payroll systems and processes.

About You

Youre a confident payroll leader who thrives in fast-paced high-volume environments and takes pride in accuracy compliance and service excellence.

Youll bring:

  • 6 years end-to-end payroll experience including leadership or senior payroll responsibility.
  • Experience in recruitment labour-hire or similarly complex award-driven environments (highly regarded).
  • Strong working knowledge of modern awards EBAs and payroll legislation.
  • Proven experience managing complex pay structures allowances and overtime rules.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Clear confident communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel capability.
