Job Summary

The Jet Finance team is expanding its geographic footprint! We operate not only in Kazakhstan but also in the UAE under the Yusr brand.

We are currently seeking a Global Head of Legal. The core mission of this role is to provide strategic leadership for the global Legal & Compliance function. This entails enabling the holdings secure expansion into new markets (MENA Central Asia) and building the legal infrastructure necessary for scaling the business and launching financial products.

Key Responsibilities:

Comprehensive Legal Support for All Business Operations:

Provide end-to-end legal support for the holding structure and oversee all activities of the groups companies;
Organize and manage the acquisition of necessary financial licenses in new jurisdictions;
Structure and execute investment attraction deals;
Develop and approve internal policies and procedures;
Draft review and negotiate a wide range of contracts (NDAs outsourcing service agreements credit agreements shareholder agreements founder agreements etc.);
Conduct legal due diligence and provide expertise on financial products.
Manage dispute resolution: pre-trial and litigation procedures representing the companys interests in court;
Formulate the companys legal strategy and actively participate in discussions on business processes.

Product Legal Support:

Provide legal guidance for the launch and implementation of new products;
Assess product compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
Develop customer/client documentation (terms of service agreements public offers etc.);
Identify analyze and mitigate the companys legal risks.

Management of the Legal & Compliance Team:

Oversee the work of local teams in-house lawyers and external counsel across the holdings regions of operation (Central Asia and MENA);
Structure and develop the legal and compliance function;
Define areas of responsibility KPIs and manage team recruitment and training.

Comprehensive Government Relations (GR):

Establish and maintain sustainable relationships with regulatory bodies in the companys operating countries (Central Asia MENA);
Participate in developing and approving internal regulatory documents affecting the groups interests;
Monitor changes in legislation and regulator positions assessing their impact on the business;
Develop and implement a strategy for engagement with government authorities.

Requirements

10 years of professional legal experience;
A higher education degree in Law;
Experience in establishing a holding structure and providing legal support for 10 legal entities;
Knowledge and competence in the field of compliance;
Experience within MFIs / consulting / fintech companies;
Knowledge of the legislation in Central Asian and MENA region jurisdictions.
Practical experience in commercial and corporate law;
Experience managing distributed and local teams of 7 people.
