Senior Aviation Technical Lead - Raleigh NC Parrish & Partners is seeking a senior-level aviation engineer with 20 years of experience to support and lead internal production technical excellence and staff development for the firms aviation program. This position will play a critical role in improving internal productivity mentoring engineering staff managing production standards and supporting the continued growth of the aviation practice. While primarily internally focused this role will occasionally support project managers and clients as needed. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with extensive knowledge of FAA funding processes and design requirements and a strong passion for developing people and improving technical quality.
Duties: - Coordinate with project managers and production staff to implement and maintain production standards and best practices
- Lead and oversee production efforts for aviation-related projects
- Support efficient workload planning and technical consistency across projects
- Coordinate with project managers on scope development and fee preparation
- Provide technical input during proposal development and project planning
- Actively mentor and coach engineers and designers at varying experience levels
- Provide technical guidance training and knowledge transfer to support professional growth
- Foster a collaborative team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement
- Lead the continued development and expansion of the firms aviation quality control program
- Perform technical reviews of plans calculations and reports to ensure compliance with firm standards FAA requirements and applicable regulations
- Provide technical support during construction including responses to technical questions and constructability reviews
- Assist project teams with problem-solving during construction as needed
- Support the evolution of the aviation practice with the opportunity to grow into leading a new cost center or managing staff as the firm expands
- Contribute to internal strategic planning related to aviation services staffing and technical capabilities
Minimum Qualifications: - 20 years of progressive experience in civil engineering with a strong focus on aviation projects
- B.S. in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states as needed
- Extensive knowledge of FAA funding programs processes and aviation project delivery
- Demonstrated experience in production management quality control and mentoring technical staff
- Strong technical writing skills including preparation and review of reports specifications and technical documentation
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office products (Word Excel Outlook)
- Experience with project scheduling and coordination
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. with a valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications: - Prior experience leading or growing an aviation program or technical discipline
- Experience managing or supervising engineering staff
- Familiarity with multi-office coordination and internal operations management
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Interest in long-term leadership growth within the firm
