Job Summary
Clinical Social Worker for the Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Program Massachusetts General Hospital
Part Time/Hybrid Position
The licensed clinical social worker will provide supportive care services for the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program. Responsibilities include psychosocial assessment counseling group facilitation and resource navigation for AYA patients and their families.
Following the initial AYA needs assessment the social worker will meet with patients and/or families to evaluate psychosocial needs and collaborate with the AYA program manager and nurse practitioner to coordinate care as well as with disease group social workers. The role involves providing psychoeducation mental health support crisis intervention counseling group facilitation and resource connection to address the wide range of challenges faced by AYA patients.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with adolescents and young adults in an oncology or related medical setting and be skilled in crisis intervention short-term counseling bereavement support trauma abuse neglect and substance use concerns. This is a multifaceted role supporting holistic patient care by integrating psychosocial services throughout the treatment journey.
The social worker will report to the AYA Program Director and work collaboratively with the AYA program manager and nurse practitioner. Strong clinical communication documentation and teamwork skills are essential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Masters of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
2. Acute care hospital experience preferred.
3. Require current Massachusetts Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
