This internship is supported by the USGAs P.J. Boatwright Internship program. The position is focused primarily on the associations extensive junior tournament schedule but this position will provide additional experience in communications amateur golf and professional golf servicesThe USGA P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship is tailored to prepare a qualified intern for a career in golf administration. JOB RESPONSIBILITIESAssist with operations of junior tournaments and championships operated by Golf House Kentucky. Duties include generaltournament set-up and preparation starting and scoring of players photography writing and distributing news/press releases updating Golf House Kentucky website data entry mailings managing player of the year rankings and course site visits. This position will have significant interaction with players and volunteers both on the course and via e-mail and JOB RESPONSIBILITIESCommunications: Will assist with media (photographing and writing) coverage for tournaments and will be expected to update the association website and social media Association Support: Provide support to all staff including but not limited to answering phones processing mailers operating various office QUALIFICATIONSA college degree (completed or in progress) preferred but not background and a desire to pursue a career in the golf to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented structureWilling to travel throughout Kentucky and flexibility for work schedule (including weekends and nights)Able to work outside in extreme weather and temperaturesA strong work ethic and self-motivatedStrong computer skills including MS Office and InternetValid drivers license and own vehicle though GHK does have a company vehiclePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSLifting and transport equipment up to 50 poundsLong periods of time standing/walking both indoors and of hands with computer data entry collating materials to hear and to see both short and long be able to operate a vehicle and a golf cartWeekend work and overnight travel may be & WORK SCHEDULETournaments run Monday-Friday during the summer with some Saturday/Sunday work requiredLength of day varies due to tournament setup field size or weatherTypical work week 40-60 hours - 4-5 days per week with travel required 4-5 days per weekThis position will be based out of Louisville KYCOMPENSATION $15.00 per hour plus overtime for hours worked over 40 hours each week (subject to deductions for taxes and other withholdings as required by law)Mileage for tournament travel commensurate with company policyTournament related expenses such as lodging and meals while travelingStaff will be provided shirtsStaff is responsible for providing their own staff pants/shorts/skorts tournament shoes (tennis shoes or golf shoes) & rain gearABOUT GOLF HOUSE KENTUCKYGolf House Kentucky is the umbrella organization for Kentuckys Family of Golf Organizations: Kentucky Golf Association Kentucky PGA and Kentucky Golf Foundation.
