Department Overview

Our neonatal program is the largest in the Midwest. We provide the full scope of care for infants needing intensive care. At the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Childrens Minnesota St. Paul Campus our inter-disciplinary team of over 500 professionals is dedicated to the care of babies born prematurely those with birth defects genetic disorders medical disorders and any baby needing surgery. We care for babies requiring complex care including hemodynamic monitoring critical medication management and maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure. We are a part of the Mother Baby Center in St. Paul at United Hospital which includes high-risk delivery services. The Childrens St. Paul NICU is a 62-bed unit providing level 2 and level 3 neonatal care which allows for continuity of care from admission to discharge. Our team balances a highly technical skill set with a family-centered approach. We rely on teamwork with open and respectful communication and promote an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Position Summary

The Patient Care Supervisor (PCS) is considered a front-line department/unit leader. The PCS will directly lead clinical support staff and assist in the leadership of RN staff.
License/Certification/Registration:
*Active RN on Minnesota Board of Nursing required
*Current BLS required

Education:
*Bachelors degree in nursing required

Experience:
*3 years of direct patient care experience within a related specialty.
*Informal leadership experience is preferred (charge RN clinical educator preceptor etc.).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Desired characteristics: dependable responsible strong conflict resolution skills knowledge of assigned unit ability to multi-task self-starter with ability to problem solve independently.
*Availability for on-call and off-hours rotations/situations as decided by department/unit.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
