The role
As anEC&I Technician youll have a role thats out of the ordinary. Youll play a vital role in keeping nuclear power stations safe available and compliant. You work with specialised equipment and safety systems apply rigorous test standards and help ensure reliable lowcarbon energy for millions of homes all while building your expertise in one of the UKs most regulated and meaningful engineering environments.
Daytoday youll be required to:
- Build and wire small electronic modules boxes units and control/indication panels and cubicles.
- Assemble and handsolder throughhole printed circuit boards (PCBs) and carry out functional testing to approved documentation.
- Test verify and peercheck results for analogue PCBs and electrical equipment; collate and record test evidence accurately.
- Follow and sign off production plans within an ISO 9001 quality system flag variances and seek approval for corrective action.
- Travel and work on site at multiple UK power stations collaborating with experienced teams in highly regulated environments.
Set working times are 37 hours per week: Monday to Wednesday 07:3018:00 Thursday 07:3015:00. During outages you work 12hour shifts with paid overtime (timeandahalf) and a premium (timeandathird) for night hours. This is a roving role supporting EDF sites at Heysham Hartlepool and Torness along with the Whetstone Manufacturing site. Regular UK travel with overnight stays is required; all travel and accommodation expenses will be covered..
Essential experience of the EC&I Technician:
- Proven experience in an Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) technician role within a regulated environment.
- Handson PCB assembly wiring and panelbuild experience including test and verification.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 processes and documentation.
- Ability to travel frequently including overnight stays to UK power station sites.
- Strong attention to detail safety focus and accurate recordkeeping.
Qualifications for the EC&I Technician:
- Level 3 Engineering qualification essential.
- Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training in a relevant discipline preferred.
Security Clearance
