Job Summary

TITLE:Carpenter Foreman

POSTION TYPE:CRFT

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS
Required:

  1. High School Diploma HiSet or GED
  2. Journeyman certification or four years of experience in carpentry trades
  3. Valid drivers license with a clean driving record for the previous five years
  4. Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong command of the English Language
  5. Demonstrates leadership; communications and organizational ability
  6. Ability to work independently without supervision
  7. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  8. Ability to use various hand and power tools used in actual jobs with carpenters
  9. Be on call 24 hours for emergency situations
  10. Ability to read blue prints and calculate materials
  11. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.

Desired:

  1. Basic computer skills with Microsoft tools and district purchased software.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Carry out the policies and procedures set forth for building by facility

management. Skilled in all technical aspects of job and able to perform tasks as well as supervise others. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the facilities department.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide prompt courteous and excellent service.
  2. Keep accurate record of labor and material for each job.
  3. Collect time cards from brick mason carpenters and furniture factory helpers.
  4. Estimate labor and material for jobs as needed.
  5. Inspect and report on carpentry jobs in progress.
  6. Supervise carpentry operations including hands-on assistance as needed to expedite workflow.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):

  1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.
  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant: Standing lifting 0-50lbs other manual dexterity tasks.

Frequent: Bending/stooping reaching/pushing/pulling lifting 50-100lbs

Occasional: Sitting lifting 100lbs carrying 20ft telephone and computer work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequently inside outside and extremes of temperature/humidity
