Purpose

The Director Analytics Engineering for Global Transaction Banking (GTB) Analytics is a strategic and technical leader responsible for building and scaling the GTB analytics ecosystem. This role overseas the design development and governance of the scalable analytics data model analytical models and self-serve capabilities that empower GTB teams to make timely trusted and data-driven decisions across Payments Cash Management Trade Finance Liquidity Channels and Operations. The Director partners closely with GTB Product Sales Operations Technology Finance and Enterprise Data Governance teams to ensure analytics solutions are resilient compliant and aligned to GTB growth strategy.

What Youll Do:

• Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.

• Define and execute the GTB analytics engineering strategy ensuring alignment with GTB business priorities while championing modern data practices that support GTBs need for timely insights operational monitoring and predictive analytics.

• Oversee the re-design and delivery of robust scalable data pipelines across GTBs complex product ecosystem (payments cash management trade liquidity channels) globally across North America Europe and Latin America

• Partner with Technology to co-own the modernization effort of GTBs data landscape including cloud migration data governance framework and practices like metadata management automated data quality checks and data observability.

• Collaborate with enterprise data office to embed strong data governance lineage and quality controls to maintain trusted well-documented GTB data assets.

• Work closely with Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics teams within GTB Analytics to enable operational dashboards and advanced analytics like forecasting Gen-AI integration.

• Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Consistently does the right thing to keep the Bank safe and fosters a culture where their team colleagues customers and stakeholders can speak up / raise concerns by listening and responding in a timely manner.

• Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts retains develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

What Youll Bring:

• Minimum of 10 years in data engineering analytics engineering or related fields with at least 3 years in leadership role.
• Minimum Bachelors degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g. Computer Science Engineering Statistics Information Systems etc.);
• Masters degree or MBA (analytics/technology focus) and additional industry courses/designations (e.g. Cloud certifications Governance certifications like DAMA) are an asset.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop collaborative working relationship with teams across various geographies
• Proven success in leading a team
• Proven experience building and scaling analytics platforms in complex and regulated environments (e.g. banking or financial services preferred). Understanding of GTB domain is an asset.
• Expertise in modern data architecture (cloud data warehouses streaming orchestration frameworks)
• Strong understanding of data governance metadata management and regulatory requirements within the data space
• Exceptional leadership communication and stakeholder management skills

Work Arrangement:

Working in a standard office-based environment.
