Job Summary

The San Diego Unified School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Substitute Food Services Truck Driver. This opportunity is open to all interested candidates looking to join our food delivery team as an hourly/on call Food Services Truck Driver.

BASIC FUNCTION:

TheFood Services Truck Driverwill drive a light truck used in the pick up and delivery of prepared hot and cold foods and supplies to school cafeterias.

VACANCY / POSITION SPECIFICS:

  • Working Location:Food and Nutrition Services. 2351 Cardinal Lane Bldg. K San Diego CA 92123.
    • The District covers a large portion of San Diego County.Refer to theDistrict Area Map at thisLinkand make sure to identify any and all specific area(s) you are interested in working in. The area(s) you identify in your application will be used for any future vacancies filled using the eligibility list from this recruitment.
  • School/Department Website: Sandi Coast Cafe
  • Work Schedule: Classification typically supports a 10 month schedule per year/hours per week as needed.
    • Typical Shift: Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • These assignments are on-call as needed and are paid hourly. They do not qualify individuals for regular salaried positions within the District. If you are a current salaried employee please do not apply as you will not be considered. This pool is intended for eligible external candidates or current substitutes who believe they have met the requirements to have additional classifications added to their record. Substitute hourly assignment are not eligible for benefits.
  • Salary: This position is paid on the Operations-Support Services Salary Schedule. Grade 033 Step 1. To view the Salary Scheduleclick here.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to one year of recent full-time equivalent paid driving experience involving the operation of light trucks or other commercial vehicles on public streets and highways.

NOTE: Your related education and experience must be clearly represented in the work history and education section of your application.

Licenses and Other Requirements:

Possession of a safe driving record for the last five years. Possession of a valid California drivers license appropriate to the type of equipment and/or vehicle operated. Incumbents in this job classification may be required to obtain a Class B drivers license. Must successfully pass an approved food service safety certification examination within 60 days after appointment. Personal hygiene appropriate to the needs of the position.

      • QUESTION 2:Please describe your experience using hydraulic lifts attached to light commercial trucks hand dollies or similar tools to transport materials. Please be sure to detail the equipment you have used and the types of materials you have moved. If no experience please respond with N/A.
