About the role
HealthFitness is seeking a skilled and experienced Building Engineer to join our team in Libertyville IL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe efficient and reliable operation of all facility systems including boilers HVAC electrical plumbing and pool equipment. The ideal candidate will perform routine inspections preventive maintenance and timely repairs while upholding all safety and compliance standards.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 4am-12pm will require on-call availability and must be comfortable with overtime must be flexible may have an odd shift a few times a month when club is closed to perform certain maintenance tasks
Responsible for operating repairing and maintaining power heat plumbing cooling distribution systems all pools as well as systems for the safe and proper operation of elevators and fire alarm systems. Also performs assigned general maintenance tasks.Key Accountabilities
Properly starts and stops maintains and inspects all boiler and mechanical room equipment according to established schedules or as needed. Repairs equipment as needed and within scope.
Completes daily monthly quarterly semiannual and annual inspections.
Checks supplies needed at prescribed intervals and informs appropriate personnel of need to order in order to maintain adequate inventory levels.
Performsmaintenanceand preventive tasks including clock functioning lighting painting carpentry plumbing washer and dryers and electrical as assigned.
Performs preventivemaintenanceand daily maintenance on all swimming pools whirlpools saunas and steam rooms as scheduled.
Maintains appropriate records of pool chemical levels and maintains pool operators certification.
Performsmaintenanceon fitness equipment as required.
Performs preventivemaintenanceon all kitchen equipment checks and inspects all kitchen equipment to ensure consistent operation.
Maintains all ceiling tiles in facility in like-new condition or replaces as necessary.
Reviews Facility Tracker and updates daily to track progress toward assigned tasks and goals.
Works with Fire Department and all certification organizations to ensure safety of the facility.
Oversees facility/building contracts (Johnson Controls Pest Fire Alarms landscaping snow removal roofing.
Approve all invoices related to building contracts repairs maintenance housekeeping.
Partners with hospital construction and facility teams to ensure hospital standards are met on all projects and upgrades.
Consults and troubleshoots with facility technicians at other sites to ensure most cost-effective and safe solutions are met.
Responsible for member satisfaction of the building/facility.
Electrical Tasks Duties and Responsibilities
Work with multiple range of voltage
Change bulbs and ballasts according to types of lights and voltage
Check emergency exits and exit sign lights
Troubleshoot electrical issues as needed
Convert lights to LED for energy efficiency
HVAC Tasks Duties and Responsibilities
Taking care of mechanical rooms and building automation and manage temperature control for the entire building.
Lubricate and replace belts for HVAC units.
Replace filters as needed.
Plumbing Tasks Duties and Responsibilities
Is able to identify and locate source(s) of problems in plumbing and other pipe systems.
Properly installs plumbing fixtures.
Properly repairs and maintains plumbing or pipe systems such as water steam lines sewage and air lines.
Properly maintains repairs and calibrates temperature controls and filtration equipment to maintain proper balance of systems.
Checks inspects and ensures appropriate function of all drains showers sinks toilets and urinals within the facility and performs preventative maintenance and repairs as needed.
Maintains steam generation systems for steam rooms are 100% functional at all times.
Assist with special projects as required including moving and storage of equipment furniture etc. exterior buildingmaintenance light carpentry exercise equipment repair and painting and patching of walls.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED
3 5 years of experience in a commercial business preferably health care hospitality or fitness center
Strong mechanical skills to trouble shoot all major systems including pools pumps HVAC electric plumbing steam.
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification is required within 60 days of hire.
Experience tending various types of boilers leading to high pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment required.
Training and/or experience in the operationmaintenance and repair of specialized equipment fixtures or systems related to heating ventilating air conditioning plumbing piping and/or swimming pools required.
Experience in the use of computerized energy management and preventivemaintenance systems.
Must be able to prioritize tasks and budget time for timely completion of assigned duties in appropriate sequence.
Must be able to appropriately determine when assistance is needed for safe performance of job duties.
Must be able to work within set standards when carrying out job duties.
Must be able to determine and select supplies and equipment suitable for tasks assigned.
Must be able to trouble-shoot equipment in order to determine reason(s) for and repairs needed to correct malfunctions or failures to operate.
Timely response to emergency requests for service
Preferred
Current City of Chicago or National institute for the Uniform License of Power Engineers stationary engineers license.
Ability to work on electrical circuits up to 480 VAC.
Ability to lift up to 35lbs without assistance
Skilled in the proper use of power tools and test equipment
EPA CFC universal certification
