Medical Lab Technician

Qualifications:Graduation from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT)Minimum of 12 months of experience within the past 36 monthsCertification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) or state licensure as a medical laboratory technicianMust be able to successfully pass a background investigation and Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Workers by the American Heart Association or American Red CrossCore Duties:Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in various sections including hematology chemistry cytology histotechnology urinalysis serology microbiology and blood bankDetermine specimen suitability for analysis and prepare specimens accordinglyPrepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessaryCalibrate standardize adjust and maintain laboratory instrumentsConduct quality control procedures on equipment reagents and productsPrepare specimens for transport or mail/ship outHandle and dispose of biological waste properlyReport unusual or grossly abnormal test results to section supervisor pathologist or laboratory supervisorPerform light general cleaning of work areasAssist in the preparation of laboratory reportsRecord test results to flat logs and request slips and file reports in the MHS and order laboratory testing in MHS Genesis for clinic basic front desk administrative tasks greet patients warmly log-in lab orders provide sample collection instructions perform phlebotomy and process patient samples for laboratory Responsibilities:Verify correct instrument operation and identify/resolve common problemsObtain and correlate analytical dataMaintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reportsReport unusual or abnormal test results to supervisorsScreen/order officer training school accessions for required testing (JBSA-L specific)Additional Requirements:Successful candidates must be Up to date on immunizationsAnnual Flu immunizations are requiredOur Equal Employment Opportunity PolicyThe company is an equal opportunity employer.
