The SECTION MANAGER has the Legal accountability with a 2.14.1 2.14.2 and 2.14.3 or a 2.6.1 appointment in terms of the Minerals Act and Regulations and is required to assist the manager in the control management and direction of the underground workings of the mine as stipulated by the regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities include the following:
- Implement and support Zero Tolerance safety principles
- Maintain section compliance to standard procedures and Specifications
- Maintain section compliance to legal requirements
- Plan and schedule development equipping construction and stoping process
- Maintains compliance to development/stoping/equipping targets for Section.
- Resource utilisation at budgeted levels
- Monitors and responds to indicators of absenteeism labour turnover grievance and disciplinary actions
- Actively pursues the team concept in building internal and external relationships
- Actively pursues technological improvement in methods and equipment
- Identifies growth potential behaviours and skills deficiencies of sub-ordinates which require development
Qualifications :
- Mining degree/diploma and/or Mine Managers Certificate of Competence
- Mine Managers Certificate of Competence
- Blasting Certificate
- Mine Health and Safety Act knowledge
- Certificate of Fitness
Experience
- Five years mining experience at metalliferous narrow orebody mines of which at least two years were in a 2.6.1 or 3.1 appointment
- Trackless mining experience will be advantageous
Knowledge and Skills
- Mine Health and Safety Act knowledge
- Computer literacy MS Office
- Understands the mining lifecycle value chain and impact of mining activities on business and operational performance
