Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Short Stay (SSU) Observation Unit! This is a full time night shift in Suffolk VA.
Hours: 7p to 7a with rotating weekends
Sign On Bonus of up to $20000 for qualified candidates.
About the Unit
The Observation/Short Stay Unit is an 18-bed department that specializes in observation post-procedural monitoring and short-term treatments including TIA workups stress tests and radiology procedures. The maximum stay is typically two days per patient. Registered nurses can expect between 6 and 8 patient discharges per shift with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5 to 1:6. The unit is supported by a highly skilled team of unit coordinators educators and a nurse manager. It benefits from low staff turnover and a strong culture of collaboration. Additional PCT staff are available to assist with ambulation and patient care. This well-supported team is ideal for both new graduate nurses and experienced Registered Nurses looking to expand their skills. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidence- based practice /nursing research quality evaluation resource utilization and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas
Education
Students in process of obtaining Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing
Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

Certification/Licensure
