Job Duties

Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of patients presenting to the Emergency Department ensuring that all required patient information pertinent to registration is obtained and accurately entered into the EMR per EMTALA and HIPAA compliance regulations.
Ensures that patients are made aware of hospital policies and procedures given privacy rights and Patient Bill of Rights and added to the ED Tracking Board within a timely manner.
After triage connects with patients to obtain in depth demographic and financial information and if applicable create emergency financial assistance applications.
Inputs information in EMR and completes appropriate forms logging them into the EMR. Collects IDs insurance cards and any other applicable documents for record-keeping as well.
Performs verification of health insurance benefits conditions and requirements by utilizing eligibility systems and the internet or phone calls as necessary.
Ensures consents are completed and witnessed appropriately and in accordance with Medical Center policies for each Emergency Room and/or Hospital admission.
Ensures all patients have a hospital identification wristband and ensure accurate patient information prior to placing on the patient.
Accepts reservations for hospital admission including PESP admissions and Direct Admissions to the facility.
Uses the hospital approved translation system to communicate with patients as needed.
Create charts for patients in the Emergency Room.
Answers and directs phone calls to the appropriate parties.
Provides transportation vouchers and/or assistance upon discharge and reconciles with Patient Financial Services and the cashiers office as necessary.
Acts as leader of the unit in absence of ED management for escalated concerns.
Activates emergency response in accordance with departmental and medical center protocols. Makes code announcements as needed.
Admits discharges and transfers patients to and from units such as Emergency Room Skilled Nursing Facility Psychiatric Services SDS etc.
Upon completion of services rendered ensures complete chart is ready for HIM collection and stored securely and privately until it can be obtained by HIM.
Assists with Admissions from other Outpatient Registration and Long-Term Care areas as needed.
Notifies the supervisor about admissions that do not meet the hospital admissions criteria.
Collaborates with various internal and external medical personnel in a professional manner including but not limited to patients Nurses Physicians EMS and/or Law Enforcement.
Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
Promote the mission vision and values of the hospital.
Greet all patients families and visitors with a positive attitude.
Performing other duties as assigned.

ED Business Associate Requirements
High School Diploma GED or suitable equivalent.
2 years work experience in customer service or related field. Proficient knowledge of medical terminology billing practices and coding.
Proficient computer skills.
Proficient with MS Office Suites.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Proficient mathematical skills.
Outstanding people skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Bi-lingual a plus in speaking Spanish and conversing in Spanish

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range

$24/Hour
