Description:

SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist assists in the provision of pharmaceutical care to various customers by verifying the medication packaging process and outcomes. This position performs a final verification step prior to medication distribution and offsets increased staffing of pharmacists. Practices within the scope of state and federal regulations.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician required preferred to have 6 months with Saint Alphonsus.

2. Must be licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.

3. National Certification (CPhT ExCPT or equivalent) required.

4. Pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Product Verification Technician Certification within 6 months.

5. Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

1. Knows understands incorporates and demonstrates the Organizations Mission Vision and Values in behaviors practices and decisions.

2. Verifies work for accuracy produced by other pharmacy technicians.

3. Serves as a Charge/lead when on duty as an Accuracy technician.

4. Provides some functional supervision of technicians.

5. Ensures required departmental functions are completed to provide effective and efficient service.

6. Assesses workflows and adjust available human resources to create optimal efficiencies.

7. Audits the process and outcomes in the direction of improvement in efficiencies and error reduction to patients.

8. Assists the pharmacist in preparing medications which includes various material resource management dispensing clerical and billing duties.

9. Demonstrates active leadership in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement activities.

10. Precepting duties as required.

11. Mentors technicians in learning new tasks.

12. Meets accuracy standards and completes yearly validation audits. Completion of specialized in-house training and competencies.

13. Knows the Idaho rules that endorse technician checking tasks performed in their job
