We value all members of our team in a supportive environment in which everyone is treated with appreciation and respect and positioned to do their best work every : The Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC Childrens Theatre Production Company (CTPC) is seeking a Costume Assistant for the upcoming 2025/2026 fiscal year. CTPC is seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Costume Assistant to support the costume department throughout the pre-production rehearsal and performance phases of our upcoming production(s). The Costume Assistant will work closely with the Costume Designer and other team members to help bring the creative vision to life while ensuring efficiency organization and professionalism in the costume JCC and the CTPC celebrate both being proudly Jewish and being an inclusive space for all. We welcome staff and participants from diverse backgrounds and actively strive to provide an open and welcoming setting irrespective of personal practices beliefs or backgrounds. We expect our musical director will create an equitable classroom environment by performing their duties with empathetic understanding towards every student regardless of their gender sexuality race ability or identity. Will be supervised by and work closely with the director of youth arts education. Experience and a love for teaching children of all ages as well as extensive experience in their art form is imperative. Submissions with musical directing performance and/or teaching reels is highly preferred. COMMITMENT:September 2025-February 2026. Must attend necessary production meetings as well as tech week rehearsals shows and strike for each production. Looking to costume assistant for the duration of CTPC JR & CTPC Teens main stage musical production of Something Rotten Jr. (grades 3rd - 10th ) as well as CTPC Kids performance of Finding Nemo Kids (grades 1st 2nd ). Upon completion of this session and evaluation from the supervisor will then discuss future employment and YOU WILL DO:Assisting with costume fittings alterations and source pull or shop for costume pieces and organizing and maintaining costumes and wardrobe area. Providing backstage support during tech rehearsals and performances. Assisting with laundry costume repairs and quick changes as needed. Documenting costume notes tracking changes and updating wardrobe a clean safe and organized costume workspace. Communicating effectively with the costume team cast and stage managementMust attend all production meetings special events and trainings duties as assigned by REQUIREMENTS:Providing CTPC/JCC must provide proof or willingness to get:Background-checked with fingerprints on file. Trained in preventing and detecting child abuse and reporting and updated health forms on file with JCC/ for understanding all safety procedures of the J and could lead the participants in the event of an to the dress code requirements as well as always meet all JCC standards forth professionalism in conduct and appearance; Instructor agrees to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the class. Must wear JCC issued nametag or name YOU ARE:Previous experience in costumes fashion or theater preferred. Basic sewing alteration or garment care knowledge is a organizational and communication skills a willingness to collaborate with peers and colleagues enjoys working on a team and can be working in a fast-paced collaborative environmentFlexible availability for rehearsals fittings and performance to lift/carry costume bins or supplies as neededExcels in classroom management; commands a room but remains patient and ever inclusive to all students as per the JCC and CTPC to communicate effectively with the artistic SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
