About West Middle School

Santa Fe South West Middle School opened its doors in the school year and is a growing intentionally designed campus built to serve alongside the SW OKC community. As a young school West MS is in an exciting stage of developmentestablishing its identity systems and traditions while maintaining a relentless focus on student growth and achievement.

Position Overview

The 8th Grade Reading Teacher at Santa Fe South West Middle School plays a critical role in ensuring students develop the literacy skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. This is a new position for the school year created as West MS continues to expand to meet the needs of the community.

This teacher will deliver rigorous standards-aligned reading instruction rooted in the SFS ELA framework while contributing to a collaborative team that is building strong systems shared expectations and a joyful achievement-oriented school culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality grade-level reading instruction aligned to Oklahoma Academic Standards and the SFS ELA framework.
• Internalize and execute engaging bell-to-bell lessons that prioritize student engagement discussion and growth in reading comprehension vocabulary and written response.
• Use student data (including formative assessments and NWEA MAP Growth) to inform instruction monitor progress and adjust teaching to meet student needs.
• Implement consistent classroom routines procedures and expectations that support a safe structured and joyful learning environment.
• Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to strengthen curriculum implementation pacing and instructional practices.
• Engage fully in coaching cycles lesson internalization and professional learning aligned to Santa Fe Souths commitment to continuous growth.
• Build strong relationships with students and families including participation in student data conversations and community engagement efforts.
• Contribute positively to the development of West MSs culture traditions and systems as a growing campus.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
• Valid Oklahoma teaching certification (or willingness/eligibility to obtain certification)

Preferred:

• Experience teaching middle school reading or ELA
• Experience using student data to drive instructional decisions
• Familiarity with structured literacy practices and/or evidence-based reading instruction
