Building Manager (Short Assignment)
INVEST OTTAWA BAYVIEW YARDS
The Building Manager is responsible for the hands-on management of all facility operations maintenance and infrastructure at Bayview Yards ensuring a safe efficient and sustainable environment for employees clients and stakeholders. This role oversees building operations contractor management and health and safety compliance ensuring all practices align with LEED Gold standards and Invest Ottawas operational goals. The Building Manager also supports facility operations at the Area X.O site implementing and maintaining a facility support plan.
This position will be required to work onsite at Bayview Yards.
- Hiring Salary Range: $36.92-$43.59
- Reason for opening: Covering a short-term leave (2-3 Months)
WHY THIS ROLE:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all facility-related inquiries issues and requests.
Coordinate and communicate with internal stakeholders tenants service providers and contractors to ensure timely responses repairs and updates.
Support building usage for programs and events in collaboration with events and operations teams.
Lead all facility operations and maintenance activities at Bayview Yards including building maintenance security waste and recycling programs pest control elevator maintenance alarm systems and parking operations.
Supervise the Building Operator and oversee external contractors and consultants in alignment with Invest Ottawa and CBY HR practices.
Manage relationships with property management partners the NCC and Inside Edge Properties as required.
Oversee service provider contracts and ensure compliance with LEED Gold specifications and sustainability standards.
Maintain accurate inventories of equipment furniture and supplies.
Lead renovations office fit-ups and facility improvement projects that support evolving organizational needs.
Develop and maintain a long-term plan for Moves Adds and Changes (MACs) to optimize space utilization.
Collaborate on budget planning forecasting variance tracking and recommendations for operational efficiencies.
Act as the certified Co-Chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and lead compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
Proactively identify assess and mitigate facility-related risks maintaining policies and procedures that ensure a safe and secure workplace.
Support the development and implementation of the Area X.O facility support plan working closely with the Area X.O operations team to align infrastructure maintenance and facility standards with organizational objectives.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Post-secondary education in Facilities Management Building Operations Engineering Technology or a related field.
Minimum 57 years of progressive experience in facility operations building management or property management.
Demonstrated experience managing vendor contracts contractors and building systems.
Health and Safety certification or training (e.g. WHMIS Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification) required.
LEED accreditation or working knowledge of LEED Gold standards is considered an asset.
Valid drivers license required.
Strong technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical mechanical security and fire safety systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to lead projects supervise contractors and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Strong organizational analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment in emergency or time-sensitive situations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management or work-order systems.
Demonstrated commitment to sustainability workplace safety and continuous improvement.
