The opportunity:
Hitachi Ltd. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Intern to support our procurement team in optimizing sourcing strategies and ensuring efficient supply chain operations. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a global technology leader.
How youll make an impact:
You will assist with data collection analysis and reporting related to supply chain performance metrics (e.g. inventory levels on-time delivery supplier performance).
You will support logistics operations including tracking shipments coordinating with carriers and resolving minor shipping issues.
You will participate in inventory management activities such as demand forecasting assistance stock reconciliation and identifying potential discrepancies
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. procurement production sales) to gather information and facilitate supply chain processes.
You will conduct research on supply chain best practices market trends and potential supplier evaluations.
You will prepare presentations and documentation to support SCM projects and initiatives and perform administrative tasks as needed to support the SCM team.
You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations procedures and guidelines.

Your background:
Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters degree program in Supply Chain Management Logistics Business Administration Industrial Engineering or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel (e.g. pivot tables VLOOKUP functions).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude. Prior internship experience or coursework related to supply chain is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
