Job Summary

Position Overview

Lighthouse Technology Services is seeking an experiencedSystems Administrator / Engineer. This is a full-time direct hire role in Buffalo and is responsible for delivering high-quality ongoing IT support and infrastructure services to multiple client environments. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced MSP setting excels at problem-solving across diverse environments and maintains a strong focus on security documentation and customer satisfaction. This position supports multiple clients concurrently and involves a combination of remote support on-site visits and project-based work.

Key Responsibilities

MSP Client Support & Service Delivery

Provide day-to-day technical support to multiple managed services clients via phone email remote tools and on-site visits
Act as a trusted technical resource for clients by delivering responsive professional and solutions-oriented support
Maintain a strong customer service mindset while managing competing priorities across client environments

Systems & Network Administration

Administer and support mixed-platform environments (Windows-centric with limited Linux exposure)
Manage and maintain:
Microsoft Windows Server environments ()
Microsoft Windows 10/11 workstations
Active Directory and Azure AD
Exchange and Microsoft 365 environments
Perform workstation and server installation configuration upgrades and lifecycle management
Manage user accounts permissions group policies and security settings

Infrastructure Security & Performance

Monitor and maintain system performance availability and reliability
Administer network services including:
Switching firewall VPN and wireless technologies
Fortinet firewalls
Cisco Meraki Ubiquiti and SonicWALL environments
Manage backup disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
Ensure environments meet security best practices and compliance expectations

Project Execution

Execute and support infrastructure-related project work including:
Server and network upgrades
Cloud and on-prem migrations
Infrastructure modernization initiatives
Manage assigned project tasks independently and deliver work on time and to specification
Participate in planning documentation and post-project validation

Documentation & Process Adherence

Maintain detailed accurate documentation for systems networks and client environments
Follow MSP standards processes and escalation procedures
Contribute to continuous improvement of tools documentation and service delivery practices

Required Qualifications

Experience & Professional Skills

46 years of experience in a Systems Engineer Systems Administrator or similar role
Experience working in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment is highly preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
Strong time management prioritization and follow-through skills
Ability to remain calm professional and solution-focused in high-stress situations

Technical Expertise

Advanced troubleshooting expertise in Microsoft-based environments
Strong working knowledge of:
Microsoft Windows Server ()
Windows 10/11
Active Directory and Azure AD
Exchange / Microsoft 365
VMware ESXi and/or Hyper-V
Wireless access point technologies and deployment
Network switching firewalls and VPNs
Hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls
Strong understanding of security compliance and best practices

Additional Requirements

Excellent documentation and communication skills
Strong analytical and complex problem-solving abilities
Willingness and desire to continuously learn new technologies
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for client site visits
Ability to work occasional early mornings evenings or weekends as needed

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

MCSE or Microsoft Azure Administrator certification
Linux infrastructure experience (RedHat / CentOS 6/7/8)
Experience with:
Storage solutions and infrastructure
PowerShell and scripting
SQL
Exposure to cloud-first or hybrid cloud MSP environments

Salary Range:$75000-$85000
