SPACE SYSTEMS

Our Space Systems team builds everything from complete spacecraft precision payloads to the components and subsystems that allow them to thrive in space like solar panels flight software star trackers optical systems separation systems radios and more.

Our Space Systems team has enabled more than 1700 missions ranging from interplanetary exploration in-space manufacturing to national security and defense initiatives. The team has built spacecraft payloads and components for missions to the Moon and Mars working with partners including NASA the Space Development Agency and the U.S. Space its a single high-performance spacecraft constellation or the vertically integrated components that help them get to space our world class Space Systems team is empowering some of the boldest and most ambitious space missions.

SENIOR NETWORK SOFTWARE ENGINEER I/II

Based out of Littleton CO we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Software Engineer I/II to join our dynamic team responsible for the development of network-focused capabilities for our constellation of satellites. This key role involves working with advanced networking technologies and protocols to ensure seamless communication and operability within our satellite network. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network programmability experience with NETCONF (Network Configuration Protocol) YANG (Yet Another Next Generation) data modeling language and a passion for innovation in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOULL GET TO DO:

  • Design implement and maintain network automation software for a constellation of satellites.
  • Develop and integrate network configuration and management solutions using NETCONF & YANG.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define network requirements and develop system-level solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues to ensure uninterrupted satellite operations.
  • Develop automated testing and validation procedures to ensure the robustness of network functionalities.
  • Document network configurations processes and procedures to maintain comprehensive records.
  • Participate in code reviews technical discussions and provide mentorship to junior team members.

YOULL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A SENIOR NETWORK SOFTWARE ENGINEER I:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on network programmability.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP routing switching).
  • Solid programming skills in languages such as Python and C.
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve complex network problems.
  • U.S citizenship is required due to program requirements

YOULL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A SENIOR NETWORK SOFTWARE ENGINEER II:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on network programmability.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols (e.g. TCP/IP routing switching).
  • Solid programming skills in languages such as Python and C.
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve complex network problems.
  • U.S citizenship is required due to program requirements

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience working with satellite communications or aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in NETCONF protocol and YANG data modeling language.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices in network environments.
  • Experience with SDA NEBULA standards.
  • Experience working with HAIPE encryption devices (KG-175 etc)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to focus
  • Regularly required to sit use hands and fingers operate computer keyboard and controls and communicate verbally and in writing
  • Must be physically able to commute to buildings
  • Occasional exposure to dust fumes and moderate levels of noise

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Base salary is only one part of Rocket Labs compensation package for this role.You may be eligible for company stock or cash incentives andcan purchase discounted stock through Rocket Labs Employee Stock Purchase Program. $125000 - $185000 USD
