Job Description

KMBC-TV the Hearst Televisionowned ABC affiliate in Kansas City is looking for a motivated Digital Content Intern to work with a fast-paced collaborative team that responds to breaking news and creates engaging content for the stations digital platforms including the website app and social media.You will be a part of a digital teamwritingarticles and creatingvideos and infographics for local news weather sports entertainment and community activities with deadlines that change with the news cycle.This role is in-person 5 days a week out of theKMBCstation.

Thisinternwill be part of theprogram a paid full-time 15-week internship program for neurodivergent/autistic talent interested in enhancing their technical skills. From June 2nd September 12th 2025 interns willparticipatein an immersive hands-on experience at a leading global diversified media information and services company.

WhatYoullDo

• Assistdigital team with social content production including graphicsvideosand infographics for stories.
• Help research andwritearticlestodisplay correctly formatted on the appwebsiteand social media
• Work with reporters and assignment editors to review and confirm that data isaccuratebefore publication.Youllhave tools clear processes and team support to help double-check information.
• Attention to detail
• Clipand postlocal news andweather forecast videosto ourwebsiteapp and social media platforms.
• Writetext tosupportvideos posted from the weekend
• Writeconciseaccurateheadlines and alerts that clearly inform viewers and encourage them to engagewith the content
• Monitorothermedia outlets digital and social media platforms topitch content.
• Assistdigital team with aspects of video production includingholdingthecamera andor microphone during shoots

WhatYoullBring

• Knowledge of how to create and edit images using Adobe Express or Photoshop for social graphics and collages
• Ableto independently write edit and publish news articleswith support for prioritizing work acrossmultiple deadlines
• Experience with or interest in using content management systemssuch asUplynkand websites akin to WordPressto update websiteapp
• Interest in or knowledge of measuring performance numbers usingGoogle Analytics
• Strength in following review processes to ensure accuracy
• Experience with digital and social media strategy
• Ability to work under strict deadlines collaboratively with our team
• Working knowledge of Google Analytics
• A background in journalism or communication is helpful but not. We welcome candidates who have gained relevant skills through work experience independent projects or other learning paths with or without a college degree.

• Knowledge of how to create and edit videos in Adobe Premiere.This will enable the applicant to repurpose video from the newscast andor photographers in the field to create short videos for social media.
• Ability totranscribeshort clips for captions(occasionally live videos)or social videos
• Interest in or knowledge of measuring performance numbers using and Social News Desk
• Experiencewith or interest informatting artificial intelligence to complete word-processing and other tasks
