About this Role

We are looking for aSenior Economistto assume responsibility for client relationships in the UK andNorthernEuropeand to drive new consulting mandates for Fideres from law firms and regulators.

Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both financial markets and competition economics along with strong relationship building and communication skills.

Key Accountabilities

Some notable responsibilities will include:

Origination Duties

  • Maintain and expand the network of Fideress client relationships in the UK and Northern Europe including: law firms barrister chambers litigation funders competition authorities and enforcement agencies.
  • Originate new consulting mandates for the firm working closely with the internal business development team to produce pitches for clients.
  • Proactively manage and develop client relationships identifying and escalating client needs risks and new business opportunities.
  • Represent Fideres in the discussions with funders and be the main point of contact for such discussions.
  • Coordinate information and follow-ups between internal teams and external counsel team.

MarketingDuties

  • Schedule and attend client events (seminar conferences etc) to raise the profile of the firm.
  • Represent Fideres through selected conferences/public speaking engagements white papers contributions op-eds etc.
  • Work closely with our public relations firm to manage international marketing and measure and monitor success.
  • Manage our marketing and communications team.

Management Duties

  • Manage the Client Relationship team including origination people across multiple Fideres international offices.

Key Skills and Attributes

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in an economic consultancy in a sector regulator or at a ratings agency.
  • Strong academics in economics and/or financial markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills energy and a genuine interest in people and relationships.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt communication styles.
  • Client focused has a marketing mindset.
  • An appetite for networking and connecting people and problems.
  • Experience of dealing directly with clients (such as law firms and/or regulators).
  • The ability to communicate effectively on complex issues in simple terms.
  • A high level of integrity with a creative and curious mind.
  • An interest in coaching developing and collaborating with others.

Pre-Interview Assessments

Depending on the role you are applying for you may be asked to complete a pre-interview assessment relevant to the role. This allows us to see if you have some of the necessary technical skills required for the role and it can also give you an idea of some of the skills that would be required.

Interviews

For the majority of our roles we have a three stage interview process. The main purpose of our interviews is to further assess your technical skills your communication skills (team and client) and make sure that you have sufficiently researched what we do and the role itself. More generally it is a chance for us to get to know each other better.

A typical interview process would look a bit like this:

  • First Interview: Technical with a team member
  • Second Interview: Cultural fit interview
  • Final Interview: Technical interview
