SUMMARY

Salary Offering:$20.00/hr.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support maintenance of stormwater asset data in a Utility Network environment.
• Perform asset data entry from various data sources.
• Analyze and interpret civil construction plans
• Collect stormwater asset data in the field.
• Maintain hardware and field equipment.
• Monitor Cityworks system for work order assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Working proficiency with the ESRI ArcGIS application suite.
• Basic understanding of GIS principles and concepts including database structure data management analysis techniques and Global Positioning Systems.
• Interest in understanding stormwater systems and terminology.
• Ability to interpret construction plans and technical drawings.
• Understanding of simple expressions and queries.
• Excellent spatial ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to plan prioritize and organize work and complete assignments
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Ability to interact courteously and effectively with the public
• Significant judgement in traveling / traversing difficult terrain / structures / barriers / various urban & rural conditions / encountering variety of animals / insects / vegetation / weather
• Good driving record valid drivers license ability to obtain & maintain City driving permit

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently enrolled as undergraduate college student with course study in graphical information systems / geography / cartography / environmental science / or related curriculum

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The Citys Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes but is not limited to: reference checks social security verification education verification criminal conviction record check and if applicable a credit history check sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidates written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process candidates may be asked to take a skills test and/or participate in other assessments.
