One year of food service experience or training in an institutional hospital military or commercial food service operation; OR

Twelve semester hours in food and nutrition dietetics or institutional management.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Prepare cook and serve meals in accordance with facility menus and dietary guidelines

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen dining and storage areas

  • Supervise youth assigned to food service duties ensuring safety and compliance

  • Operate kitchen equipment and follow institutional food safety protocols

  • Assist with inventory storage and portion control

  • Uphold confidentiality mandatory reporting and trauma-informed care standards

  • Participate in PREA training and other required onboarding programs

Appointment:Full time Probational
Compensation:The Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker (pay grade level WS-205) has a special entrance rate of $1280 biweekly.


Other important information:The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).
