Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth who will become productive law-abiding citizens. We are seeking reliable and safety-conscious individuals to join our food service team in secure care facilities. As a Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker you will help prepare and serve meals while supervising youth engaged in kitchen and cleaning activities. This role supports OJJs rehabilitative mission by modeling professionalism structure and responsibility in daily operations.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of food service experience or training in an institutional hospital military or commercial food service operation; OR

Twelve semester hours in food and nutrition dietetics or institutional management.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Prepare cook and serve meals in accordance with facility menus and dietary guidelines
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen dining and storage areas
Supervise youth assigned to food service duties ensuring safety and compliance
Operate kitchen equipment and follow institutional food safety protocols
Assist with inventory storage and portion control
Uphold confidentiality mandatory reporting and trauma-informed care standards
Participate in PREA training and other required onboarding programs

Appointment:Full time Probational
Compensation:The Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker (pay grade level WS-205) has a special entrance rate of $1280 biweekly.

Other important information:The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).
