Job Summary

Title of Position: Washington DC Field Trip RN/LPN -Overnight: On Call
Work Year: 2025-2026 School Year
Salary:
Four Days: An additional five (5) hours a day will be paid atthe Contractual Hourly Rate
Overnight on Call and Pre and Post Work:
$1200.00 Stipend

Directly responsible to the the School Nurse Leader Superintendent of Schools and or his/her designee and
Statement of Duties:
- Promote and maintain optimal physical and emotional health of students.
- Provide emergency care and first aid in cases of injury and sudden illness.
- Maintain health records and document pertinent information. Document all medications/treatments or first aid care provided on the trip.
- Maintain confidentiality of students medical issues.
- Review medical records for students attending the field trip
- Notify parents of illnesses and accidents which occur during school hours and fill out appropriate accident forms.
- Administer medications and treatments prescribed by Doctor as necessary.
- Assess and evaluate the students health as necessary.
- Assess pertinent family history and home situation factors.
- Inform teachers and staff regarding medical issues that may affect them.
- Counsel students parents and school personnel and plan action for eliminating minimizing or accepting health problems.
- Responsible for pre and post work.
- Responsible for follow up on all outstanding medications and orders
- Attend meetings with field trip coordinators to ensure a comprehensive plan for student care and safety is in place.
- Overnight emergencies/illnesses/medications/ - Sick students are the responsibility of the field trip coordinator and/or his/her chaperone designee after assessment from the nurse.
- Return all medications care plans first aid kits and all confidential information to the school the next school day after the field trip.
- Responsible for general duties as indicated by the directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years full time or equivalent part time paid experience as a registered nurse in a recognized public school or public health agency.
- BilingualPreferred.
- Must possess a current validRegistered Nurse Licenseissued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
- Must apply for and obtain reciprocity in Maryland through the Maryland Board of Nursing and in Washington D.C. through DC Health - Government of the District of selected candidates will be reimbursed by the school district for the temporary licenses once obtained. Please follow the expense reimbursement process.
- Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as aSchool Nurse- Preferred
- Must be CPR/First Aid certified.
- Knowledge of present-day public health nursing practice including its underlying principles and techniques.
- Must be able to function independently prioritize have good organization skills and be able to multitask.
- Physical Requirements:Ability to move in and out of office classrooms buildings and up and down stairs. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment including a computer strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Strength to lift and/or carry materials/items/persons weighing up to 75 pounds with assistance as the students may need positioning.
