The opportunity:
Hitachi Ltd. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Intern to support our procurement team in optimizing sourcing strategies and ensuring efficient supply chain operations. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a global technology leader.
How youll make an impact:
You will assist the purchasing team with daily administrative tasks including data entry filing and document management.
You will support the creation and processing of purchase orders ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
You will conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify potential vendors and evaluate their capabilities assist in negotiating with suppliers to achieve favorable terms pricing and delivery schedules.
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. engineering production finance) to understand material requirements and resolve supply chain issues.
You will track and monitor supplier performance identifying areas for improvement and escalating concerns as needed help maintain and update supplier databases and procurement systems.
You will participate in special projects related to cost reduction initiatives process improvements or sustainability efforts within the supply chain prepare reports and presentations on purchasing activities and supplier metrics.
You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations procedures and guidelines.

Your background:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program in Supply Chain Management Business Administration Finance Economics or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with procurement processes or supply chain concepts is a plus. A strong desire to learn and contribute to a global organization.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
