The City of Seattles Watersheds in North Bend WA covers over 100000 acres and is carefully managed to supply clean drinking water to the greater Seattle area.

Maintenance Laborer is an integral part of Watershed Operations an inclusive adaptable team responsible for performing a variety of skills in ground maintenance forest road improvements and the building and maintenance of watershed facilities. Successful candidates will enjoy working with their hands and a variety of equipment in an outdoor setting in varied climates and terrain in the Cascade Mountains. Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains grounds using a wide variety of hand and power-operated tools and equipment.
  • Assist facilities maintenance and repair.
  • Facilities maintenance includes knowledge of janitorial equipment chemicals and techniques.
  • Assist Workspace Management by moving furniture from one facility to another.
  • Provide additional ground maintenance support during emergency situations and peak weather seasons.
  • Manage tools equipment and rentals on-site during emergency and non-emergency events.
  • Drive pickup trucks and other motorized vehicles or equipment in connection with work activities.
  • Assist 24/7 in emergency work and emergency response situations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience & Education:

  • One (1) year experience performing general laboring/manual work involving construction installation repair and maintenance of public facilities.

Experience and Education Equivalency:

  • Combinations of appropriate education training certification and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability to the minimum education and experience requirements.

Licenses: Current valid Washington State drivers license.

Certifications:Washington State Forklift Safety and Operation certificate is required within six months of hire. Training and certification will be provided by SPU for selected candidates.

Desired Qualifications:

You will be most successful in this role if you possess one or more of the following:

  • Knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools operate various types of machinery and equipment including chain saws weed eaters zero turn mowers chippers toolcat and floor auto scrubber.
  • Ability to safely load and unload equipment from trailer and safely secure and transport equipment.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively within a multi-cultural workforce serving a diverse customer base.
  • Experience working with a work management systems such as Maximo and Datasplice.

Work Environment/Physical demands:

  • Required to report to worksite 4 days a week from 5 am to 3:30 pm.
  • Required to stand walk or bend for extended period of time.
  • May be required to work nights weekends and/or holidays in emergency situations
  • Frequently required to lift objects up to 50 pounds. May occasionally be required to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally work at heights up to 40 feet.
  • Required to work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Required to work outdoors in a mountainous region. Where working conditions change quickly.

Additional Information

  • If you are selected to advance in this hiring process you may be asked to acquire a Full Washington Drivers Abstract from the Department of Licensing. Please do not provide until requested.
  • SPUs safety program requires a pre-employment medical assessment as a condition of employment in this position.

The full hourly range for this position is: $37.95 - $37.95.
