Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Product and Engineering Director to lead the build of Mews Financial Systems platform.

Mews Financial Systems provides a range of services for our customers from Payment Processing to Account issuing and Balance management in a regulated high-performing scaled environment.

In this role you will be accountable to the build and launch of services such as customer underwriting and onboarding Risk Monitoring and Alerting Payment Processing Balance management and Payouts.

You will directly manage Product and Engineering managers as well as collaborate closely with cross functional stakeholders program managers and executive leadership.

Success in this role means that all teams who are working in parallel to deliver a complex roadmap are working efficiently communicating constantly and prioritizing ruthlessly based on an overarching joint objective and that executive leadership is comfortable with progress as well as risk mitigation.

Define and communicate a clear product and technical vision strategy and roadmap for Mews financial services platform aligned with company goals and EU regulations.

Own the end-to-end delivery of a fit-for-purpose Fintech platform the is compliant with EMI requirements with clear accountability for outcomes KPIs and execution.
Own the end-to-end delivery of a fit-for-purpose Fintech platform the is compliant with applicable European financial services regulations requirements with clear accountability for outcomes KPIs and execution.
Lead and develop a cross-functional organization (Product and Engineering) fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
Ensure strong engineering and product practices across the tribe including high standards for architecture scalability reliability security CI/CD testing observability and documentation.
Partner closely with Engineering Managers Staff/Principal Engineers and Product leaders to drive delivery excellence system health technical innovation and effective management of technical debt.
Oversee capacity planning estimation and prioritization across teams to ensure sustainable focused delivery and predictable execution.
Establish robust feedback loops with customers and internal stakeholders to validate problems and solutions early iterate quickly and continuously improve the FinTech product portfolio.
Collaborate with peers and stakeholders across R&D and the wider business (e.g. GTM Finance Ops Support Legal & Compliance) to align priorities manage dependencies and deliver integrated customer outcomes.

Significant leadership experience (typically 7 years) in product and/or engineering roles including proven responsibility for delivery of large-scale regulated Fintech platforms.

Demonstrated track record of owning both product strategy and technical execution with clear examples of driving business outcomes.
Deep technical literacy and experience collaborating with engineering leaders on architecture system design scalability security and operational resilience (not necessarily as a hands-on IC).
Proven ability to lead and grow cross-functional teams including managing and coaching Product Managers and Engineering Managers.
Experience establishing and maintaining high standards in engineering and product practices (CI/CD automated testing observability incident management documentation design quality).
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to align diverse audiences (executive commercial operational technical) around a clear plan and narrative.
Strong strategic and analytical thinking comfortable making decisions under uncertainty balancing short-term delivery with long-term investment.
Experience in payments embedded finance or other fintech domains is required; experience in hospitality or other operationally intensive industries is an advantage.
