Job Summary

SHIFT TIMES: WEEKDAYS 4PM-11PM WEEKENDS 5PM-1AM

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for washing dishes pots etc. and ensuring the cleanliness of the culinary area.

The Kitchen Steward:

Works as a member of a dishwashing crew ensuring soiled items are placed in proper racks or containers which carry them through a dishwashing machine.
Inspects removes and properly stores all clean items from the dishwashing machine.
Washes steam kettles tilt fryers and food preparation equipment too large to put in dishwashing machines.
Supplies dishware to food preparation stations as needed; removes soiled dishware and cooking equipment from food preparation stations.
Keeps work area (floor machine shelving carts etc.) clean at all times.
Performs miscellaneous duties such as polishing silver working in store room and preparing for banquets special events etc. as assigned.

Qualifications :

Ability to work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold heat noise and vibration; the kitchen steward is subject to hazards such as wet floors; proper precautions are taken.
Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work area.
Ability to stand for majority of shift.
Must be able to inspect all work performed.
Must be able to reach bend squat and carry loads of up to 50 pounds as well as push/pull loads of up to 100 pounds so as to be able to restock all items as needed.
Must be able to sort all silverware as needed.
Must be able to operate machines and equipment used but not limited to are all dishwashing equipment after proper training.
Must be at least 16 years of age.

The skills necessary for this position are typically acquired through two months of onthe-job training or through related experience.
