The Role
Design develop and maintain the organizations Emergency Preparedness Program and procedures for the facility and its equipment. Coordinate with RadCon and the Fire Emergency Planning Team on all fire drills that require firefighter participation ensuring fire drill scenarios meet the tactics training and physical requirements for firefighter safety. Review industry trends for best practices in fire prevention extinguishment and training and ensure firefighter training requirements meet or exceed all OSHA and NFPA training standards. Coordinates with all in yard naval vessel DCAs to ensure emergency firefighting equipment for each vessel is staged inventoried and maintained in ready response status. Prepares MOU/MOA for arriving ships regarding fire drills and responsibilities. Liaison with local Fire Department Training Officers Fire Marshals and Ships Fire Marshal for drill planning training assistance and command & control familiarity. Leads a project team to plan schedule and conduct a wide range of complex facility/or site Emergency Preparedness drills and exercises. Provides coordination with local State and Federal Emergency Planners. |
Must Have
Bachelors degree in an area of study relevant to this position and more than 8 years experience in emergency management with a law enforcement public or private sector security organization. Certification preferred: VFMA - Fire Marshal Law Enforcement School NFPA 1033 - Fire Investigator NFPA 1031- Fire Inspector I & II certifications
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelors Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
- NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Associates Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
- Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
- High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing Shipbuilding Trades Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
- High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing Shipbuilding Trades Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
