Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Paddock Judge is responsible for confirming that all jockeys and horses meet the qualifications set by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission to race before each race begins. This is completed by performing the following duties:
Ensures all horses are in the Paddock before saddling begins.
Oversees any Change of Equipment in the program or verify with Stewards regarding equipment worn in the last race.
Informs jockeys of when to mount their horses and exit the Paddock.
Makes certain the horses leave the Paddock in numerical order unless special permission has been granted by the Stewards.
All other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must be able to obtain an Indiana Horse Racing License.

Also required are frequent standing walking stooping bending reaching climbing steps and sitting. May be required to lift approximately fifty 50 pounds.

Horseshoe Indianapolis is a smoking establishment therefore must be able to work in a smoking environment. Must be able to work in a highly populated fast-paced and noisy environment. Must be able to work in an environment subject to cold and/or hot temperatures rain wind sun dust animals insects etc.
