Job Summary
The court Bailiff will provide security for the courtroom and staff as well as courtroom related functions for arraignments and all municipal court proceedings.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
- Performs after hours work as required (nights and weekends)
- Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
- Ensure that anyone entering the courtroom had been screened according to established protocols and/or policies.
- Maintain order and security in the courtroom when court is in session and notify any possible threat.
- Assists Municipal Court Judge in documentation court business and other required paperwork.
- Provide oral and printed information to persons attending court.
- Confirms arraignment documentation list with municipal jail for judges review.
- Works as a liaison with the police department law enforcement court security committee member.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience to perform such job.
- Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at Citys expense.
- Applicant must have current valid Class C Drivers License and be insurable.
- Must have high school diploma; or equivalent.
- Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
Knowledge Abilities and Skill
- Critical thinking.
- Laws and courtroom procedures.

- Monitoring
- Computer literacy.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
- Occasional walking standing and stooping.
- Occasional lifting moving or positioning objects up to 30lbs.
