A Leading Education Recruitment Agency is working with a range of inclusive mainstream schools SEMH provisions and alternative education settings in Islington to recruit experienced and resilient Behaviour Mentors. These schools support pupils who face barriers to learning due to challenging behaviour emotional dysregulation trauma anxiety and social communication difficulties.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor in Islington you will support pupils who struggle to engage with education due to emotional or behavioural needs. Many pupils present with SEMH needs ADHD Autism attachment difficulties or adverse childhood experiences which impact their ability to regulate emotions and behaviour in school.

You may work 1:1 in small groups or across classrooms supporting pupils during lessons transitions and unstructured times. Some roles involve working in reflection or inclusion rooms supporting pupils following behaviour incidents and helping them reintegrate successfully.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured behaviour support aligned with individual behaviour plans

  • Support emotional regulation and coping strategies

  • Use de-escalation and restorative approaches

  • Promote clear boundaries routines and expectations

  • Act as a consistent and trusted adult

  • Support reintegration into learning

  • Record behaviour and safeguarding concerns accurately

  • Work closely with teachers SENCOs and pastoral teams

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting SEMH or challenging behaviour

  • Calm resilient and emotionally intelligent

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
