About the role
Honda Bank is accelerating its digital transformation and building a modern agile and secure data architecture. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our DataOps team within the Architecture function. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing a cloud-native data lake to replace our legacy sales data warehouse enabling efficient compliant and scalable data consumption across the organization.

Tasks
Data Architecture & Engineering:
- Design and build robust scalable data pipelines using AWS Glue S3 Athena and other AWS-native services.
- Lead the migration from a legacy DWH to a data lake architecture following the medallion model (bronze silver gold layers).
- Ensure secure and performant access to structured and semi-structured data.
Data Science Enablement:
- Develop reusable production-grade feature engineering and modeling pipelines for business and AI use cases.
- Apply statistical profiling and exploratory methods to guarantee data quality and relevance.
Collaboration & Strategy:
- Work closely with solution architects data governance and BI teams to define platform standards.
- Act as a subject-matter expert in data observability validation and transformation logic.
Automation & CI/CD:
- Implement automated workflows for pipeline testing monitoring and alerting.
- Integrate data workflows into CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code pipelines.
Governance & Compliance:
- Enforce best practices around data lineage access control and regulatory compliance (e.g. DORA GDPR).
Requirements
What were looking for:
- 58 years of experience in data engineering data science or advanced analytics.
- Proven expertise with AWS cloud data services (S3 Glue Lake Formation Athena).
- Proficiency in PySpark SQL and Python for scalable data manipulation.
- Strong understanding of data lake / Lakehouse architectures and medallion approach.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization and reporting tools (Power BI / MicroStrategy).
- Familiarity with data governance metadata management and security best practices.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
- Exposure to CI/CD Terraform or similar DevOps tooling.
- AWS certifications in Data Analytics or Machine Learning.
- Knowledge of EU data regulations and compliance frameworks.
