Graduate Trainee Actuarial

Responsibilities

As an Actuarial Management Trainee you will work under the guidance of experienced mentors and gain hands-on exposure to core actuarial modeling and reporting functions through rotations and project-based learning:

• Assist in building testing and documenting actuarial models to support quarterly/annual financial and capital assessments;
• Learn and participate in model change processes (e.g. new product launches assumption updates) in line with VSSC Model Change Management guidelines;
• Support the actuarial team with regulatory submissions audit preparations and ad-hoc analytical projects;
• Use tools such as Excel VBA SQL Python or GGY AXIS (as applicable) for data processing and model validation under supervision;
• Engage in internal knowledge-sharing sessions and gradually take ownership of small task modules to develop communication and teamwork skills;
• Proactively suggest improvements to tools workflows or frameworks to enhance team efficiency.

Requirements

• Final-year undergraduate or masters student graduating in 2025 majoring inActuarial Science Mathematics Statistics Finance Computer Science or a related field;
• Strong interest in actuarial science risk management or financial modeling with solid quantitative and analytical foundations;
• Proficient in Excel; experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Python VBA SQL) is a plus;
• Strong logical thinking eagerness to learn and a sense of responsibility; able to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
• Good command of English (both written and spoken);
• Prior progress in actuarial exams (e.g. SOA/CAA) is preferred but not required;
• Self-motivated collaborative and ready to grow through real-world challenges.
